Our Story

Hello, we’re Sam and Danny, and thank you for reading our profile! While we hope to learn more about you soon, we’ll start by sharing a little about us.

We met somewhat unexpectedly in 2015. Sam was living in Washington, DC, when Danny was visiting from several hours away in Charlottesville, VA. We both “swiped right” and then chatted for a few months. It was clear there was an instant connection, and we talked every day...

About Danny

I grew up in Virginia, and most of my immediate and extended family lives here. I can't wait to continue building roots here and show our growing family everything I love about Virginia.

I work at a large technology company managing their learning and development programs for software engineers. Before this role, I had a long career in higher education and really enjoyed helping students and professionals develop new skills and careers. I fully work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I will have plenty of time to be present for kid events – school plays, sports,...

About Sam

I grew up in Nebraska and regularly visit my family back home or frequently host them here at our house in Virginia.

I work as a director at an economic research firm helping companies better understand and navigate the global economy. I really enjoy taking complicated research and breaking it down, so it's easily digestible and seeing that "a-ha!" moment when the companies I work with have a breakthrough. I also work fully from home and have an incredibly flexible schedule. It's one of the biggest perks of my job that I'll easily be present for kids without having to fit them in...

Our Home

We're excited to tell you about our home and neighborhood. We feel incredibly lucky to live here – just minutes from all that DC has to offer, but in a walkable community where we know all our neighbors and often get together around someone's backyard firepit during the week.

Our home is a five-bedroom house built in 1972 with an enormous yard. It was recently renovated before we moved in, and we love all the updates but appreciate that it still has the character of an older home. We have a vegetable garden in the front yard and a huge deck and firepit in the back for...

Our Family & Friends

Our family is everything to us. Between the two of us, we have two sets of parents, six siblings (three sisters and three brothers), and a huge amount of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Danny is a middle child, and Sam is the youngest. We see Danny's family most weekends, as many live locally. We travel to see Sam's family several times a year in Nebraska.

We also spend a lot of time with our friends. We're fortunate that so many of our friends from various points of life (childhood, college, grad school) have all ended up in DC. Although we don't go out as much as we...

Hobbies, Interests, and Traditions

We have many hobbies and interests that keep us busy, and we would love to pass them on to our growing family.

Sam grew up in a very musical household (all his siblings play multiple instruments), so he likes to spend at least some of my week playing piano or cello. Although we look forward to a child developing their unique hobbies and interests, learning their first instrument is something Sam would love to nurture. Sam loves getting out with our dog Ruth to walk around the neighborhood daily and enjoys running into our neighbors on those walks.

Danny has a green thumb...
